Hitchcock Posters
THE SCENE OF THE CRIME
For a final project, students were asked to illustrate a series of movie posters. Since I’ve always loved thrillers, it was a no-brainer choosing to illustrate the father of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock’s, most famous masterpieces. I didn’t however want the posters to look like classic commercial advertisements. Hitchcock’s movies always stuck in my brain because each frame was a successful photograph in and of itself. By going back through these movies, I chose my favorite frames to base each poster on.
The film stills were both compositionally balanced and thematically pivotal. After sketching a guide of all the images’ key elements, I illustrated the scenes using vector shapes. While not all of these Hitchcock films were originally filmed in black and white, I chose to illustrate them without color to highlight the composition of these amazing shots.
