PROJECT GOALS

This series of videos is an exploration of 3D motion design. To familiarize myself with the medium, I was asked to recreate the satisfying loop videos that grace social media feeds worldwide. Inspired by industry leader, Zolloc, the brief asked students to consider the emotional impact of motion and color.

DUALITY

I focused on soft movements that teetered on the brink of perfection or destruction. For example the golden poles zig-zag fluidly, but the moving track threatens to disrupt that flow. Likewise, the golden and pink balls sway between order and chaos swiftly. Contrastingly, the sinkhole video uses the “on the verge of destruction” concept much more literally. With the sinkhole expanding and contracting, the amonous figures barely escape contact each time: escaping their doom rhytimcilly.

Lastly, the water balloon shape drops through the golden hoop at an angle that makes the viewer wonder if it will safely fall onto the donut shape before the conveyor belt moves forward. These video loops juxtapose suspense and satisfaction. The color palette incorporates calming pastels with touches of reflective gold. The contrast in materials mimics the duality of the motion.
